Sunshine Coast Construction

(Re) Branding
Mascot design

Sunshine Coast wanted to stand out. They didn't want to look like every other residential contractor so they decided, instead of a new logo, they wanted a mascot. Meet Sunny, the new face of Sunshine Coast Construction. We started by exploring several different style directions to pinpoint what company owner Joe Rumancik had in mind. In the end, we landed on a retro-beach vibe, perfect for the company's Florida roots.

Our (re)branding process starts with a competitive landscape analysis; in other words, a look into a company's competition. Right away, we knew a mascot would help Sunshine Coast stand out among the primarily text-heavy logos of their competition.

Next, we gathered examples of different illustration styles to see which ones Joe liked the best. Then, it was time to hit the drawing board.

Our first-round presentation included 4 potential directions, each using a different color scheme and illustration style.

Each mascot option included examples of how the mascot and overall style could be applied to a website, T-shirt, and a truck decal for company vehicles.

Re-branding project featuring a new mascot for Jacksonville, FL based residential construction company.

Joe picked the direction he liked the best, but he wanted to explore some different color combinations and change the tape measure in Sunny's hand to a hammer.

And with that, Sunny was born.
